The Unraveled Mama Podcast

Episode 53 - Stop hurting yourself by demanding perfection!

Episode Notes

Mama,

Are you allowing yourself to be a beginner or are you demanding perfection?
Are you allowing yourself to be a beginner or are you demanding perfection?

I see so many women jump into a health and weight loss journey with the expectation that they’ll be able to do it perfectly.

But then, they mess up and assume they’ve failed.

❌ This isn’t true!! No one is perfect at something when they first start out and you need to accept that, that applies to you too!

I know that somewhere along the way you were told that it wasn’t ok to be a beginner. That you needed to show up and be perfect from the start. That if you needed to ask questions, or get clarification on something, then you weren’t good enough. That if you couldn’t get step one correct the first time, then you weren’t worthy of the success that came after step one.

There was no room to be a beginner.

Mama, I want you to know that that is false.

✅ It’s ok to be a beginner.
✅ It’s ok to ask questions.
✅ It’s ok to not know everything.
✅ It’s ok to try.
✅ It’s ok to fail.

✨ You are worthy of all of the success! ✨

🚨 Failure is the only way to learn how to be successful 🚨

You need to stop looking for perfection in a space where you’re a beginner. You must allow yourself to start small or slow. You must allow yourself to make mistakes.

If you don’t give yourself the space and grace to fail, then you’ll never get the opportunity to succeed. You’ll just stay stuck and feel miserable. 👎🏽

I want to give you permission to be a beginner. It’s ok to not know what you’re doing.

But…

❌ It’s NOT ok to not try.
❌ It’s NOT ok to not show up for yourself.
❌ It’s NOT ok to believe the lies that someone else told you that if you’re not incredible from the very beginning, then you aren’t worth the effort and energy that it’s going to take to get where you want to be.

You need to stand up for the fact that you are a beginner. You need to tell the bully in your head to sit down and shut up.

When you give yourself permission to mess up and be a beginner, you’ll have the power to step into your best self.

It takes courage, but it’s worth it. You are worth it.
